- ANTHONY CURTIS SPECIAL FOR THE REPUBLIC

After several delays, construction has begun on Las Vegas’ next megaresort. The $4 billion Chinese-themed Resorts World Las Vegas will be built on the north end of the Strip in the spot where the Stardust used to stand.

The latest specs call for 3,000 rooms, 175,000 square feet of casino space, 30 restaurants and bars, a 4,000-foot theater and a replica of the Great Wall of China in Phase I. Additional phases could expand the resort in several areas, including up to 6,000 rooms.

The timetable for the opening has been pushed back to mid-2018.

With its long run at Riviera ended by the casino’s closing last week, the topless revue “Crazy Girls” has found a new home. The show will open at Planet Hollywood this month. The famous bronze butts sculpture that stood outside the front doors of Riviera will also move to Planet Hollywood.

The Market Street Café at downtown’s California Casino serves eggs any style with choice of Spam, beef patty and gravy, Vienna sausage, corned beef or Portuguese sausage plus potatoes or rice for $6.49. There’s also a Filipino breakfast with tocino (bacon) for $6.99. The Luau breakfast buffet is $6.25.

SLS Las Vegas, across the Strip from the concert venue, is making its garage available to non-guests for $40 and Stratosphere is charging $30. There also will be a shuttle with service originating from the MGM Resorts Village and the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. The cost of a two-day shuttle pass is $25 and does not include admission to the festival that runs May 8-9 and 15-16.
