Raiders owner makes presentation to owners

-

HOUSTON - His eyes on Las Vegas, Raiders owner Mark Davis says he hasn’t shut the door on anything. Oakland, though, might have shut the door on itself as home for his team.

“Oakland was in the driver’s seat if they could’ve put together anything,” Davis said Wednesday at the NFL’s fall meetings, after updating his fellow owners on his desire to relocate to the gambling capital. “They came up with nothing.”

Several owners insisted it’s far too early to reach any conclusions in the Raiders’ relocation issue. But Commissioner Roger Goodell supported Davis’ assertion there has been no movement toward keeping the franchise in the Bay Area, saying “to a large extent there has not been a solution (presented) in Oakland.”

Davis also said he believes having a new stadium ready in Las Vegas by 2019 “would be really quick.”

New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has missed practice with a hip injury.

Coach Ben McAdoo said Wednesday that he is taking a day-to-day approach as the star wide receiver deals with a hip pointer sustained in Sunday’s 27-23 win over Baltimore.

Beckham had a career game, catching eight passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns, including a winning 66yard catch and run with 1:24 to play.

McAdoo said that Beckham was sore Wednesday.

The Giants (3-3) will practice Thursday and then travel to London for a game Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams (3-3).

McAdoo said Beckham does not have to practice this week to play in the game.

Long snapper Zak DeOssie (ankle) also did not practice Wednesday. New York has signed long snapper Tyler Ott to its practice squad in case DeOssie can’t play. The practice squad contract of defensive back Doran Grant was terminated.

Bills running back LeSean McCoy did not finish practice Wednesday after hurting one of his hamstrings.

Coach Rex Ryan said that McCoy was being evaluated by trainers. He didn’t have any details about how McCoy was hurt and didn’t know the severity of the injury.

The Bills (4-2) play at Miami on Sunday. McCoy had 140 yards rushing and three touchdowns in a 45-16 win against San Francisco on Sunday.

In his past four games, McCoy has 470 yards rushing and six touchdowns, including one receiving score.

Mc Coy was slowed by an injury to his left hamstring at the start of last season.

Miami Dolphins safety Reshad Jones will miss the rest of the season because of a shoulder injury suffered in Sunday’s win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The seven-year veteran, who hasn’t missed a game because of injury in the past five seasons, was ruled out for the year Wednesday after receiving a second opinion on the injury.

Jones was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time in 2015. He led the Dolphins and all NFL defensive backs last year with 106 solo tackles, and has 31 this season.

His absence further depletes a secondary already without rookie starting cornerback Xavien Howard because of a knee injury. He’ll be replaced in the starting lineup by Michael Thomas or Walt Aikens.

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has a right shoulder injury but expects to play Sunday against the New York Jets.

Flacco did not practice Wednesday. Coach John Harbaugh says the quarterback could face the Jets (1-5) even if he doesn’t practice this week.

Harbaugh said, “I believe he’s got a legitimate chance to play.”
