Mind the tiebreakers. If you’re entering an Academy Awards pool — and why wouldn’t you? — it’s looking like pretty easy pickings. Nothing is certain, of course, but the best educated guesses make it look as if choosing winners in the major categories should be pretty easy. Famous last words. With that said, make sure your pool includes best screenplay and adapted screenplay, so that you’ve got a way to break the inevitable ties. And if you’re still knotted after that? Rock, paper, scissors is always a good option. I’m not great at the Oscar-picking game — there are people whose full-time jobs consist of writing about who’s hot and who’s not — but I’ve got some reasonably educated guesses. Here goes.
