Casinos in Las Vegas add games, attractions hoping to draw more Millennials

- ANTHONY CURTIS

Slowly but surely, Las Vegas casinos are making moves to attract Millennials to areas other than nightclubs.

On the Strip, MGM Grand and Hakkasan Group have teamed up to create the city’s latest “gaming lounge,” which merges traditional gambling with pool, foosball and arcade games, plus a bar with craft beers and specialty cocktails.

Downtown, the Neonopolis complex is preparing to open an electronic sports arena designed to host video-game tournaments and the Commissary restaurant at Downtown Grand has been converted into an eSports lounge.

Expect more along these lines in the near future.

Neon Museum: The Neon Museum, which displays hundreds of retired resort signs and former landmarks, is expanding thanks to a $425,000 grant from Las Vegas. The museum at 770 Las Vegas Blvd. N. has purchased an adjacent parcel of land that will provide space for 30 more signs to be displayed.

Bellagio Starbucks: What do you add to a casino that has practically everything? A Starbucks, of course. Hours are 6 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.

Wedding Bell: The new Taco Bell Cantina on the Strip is adding weddings to its menu. Beginning this summer, the restaurant will offer a $600 Taco Bell-themed wedding package that includes a Taco 12-pack and a Cinnabon Delights wedding cake.

Tea Tuesdays: Lucky Dragon has initiated Tea Tuesdays, featuring 50 percent off exotic teas in Cha Garden near registration. The promotion runs from 9 a.m.-11 p.m.

Question: Is there a line on the possible Floyd Mayweather/Conor McGregor fight?

Answer: Even though the fight’s not set, the Westgate SuperBook has put up a betting line that makes boxing’s Mayweather a huge -2500 favorite (25-1) over mixed martial arts’ McGregor. It’s more a conversation piece than anything else, as the casino says no bets have been taken on either side yet.
