‘CELEBRITY APPRENTICE’S’ SCHWARZENEGGER: I QUIT
Arnold Schwarzenegger said Friday he’s through with The New Celebrity Apprentice, and he’s blaming President Trump for the television reality show’s recent poor performance.
The former California governor said he wouldn’t mind working with NBC and producer Mark Burnett again “on a show that doesn’t have this baggage.”
Schwarzenegger replaced the president as host of the show, but Trump remained as an executive producer. The president taunted Schwarzenegger for the show’s recent poor ratings. The show, which wrapped up its 15th season last month, averaged fewer than 5 million viewers per episode.
BAN UPHELD ON PROTESTS AT SUPREME COURT
A federal appeals court has underscored the kinds of protests banned inside the Supreme Court.
The ruling Friday involves five people who stood up as the high court was gaveled into session in 2015 and began speaking or singing to protest court rulings. They were prosecuted but then argued the law was unconstitutionally vague in prohibiting “loud” language or making a “harangue” or “oration” in the building.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia upheld the entire law Friday, saying it clearly prohibits disruption of court proceedings.
SCOUTS PAY $18,000 TO TRANSGENDER BOY
The Northern New Jersey Council of the Boy Scouts of America agreed Thursday to pay $18,000 and issue an apology to a 9-year-old transgender boy who was thrown out of a Cub Scout pack last year, according to administrative court documents.
Joe Maldonado of Secaucus was allowed back into the pack earlier this year when the Boy Scouts said it would begin accepting transgender children.
THOUSANDS ESCAPE MOSUL AS TROOPS ADVANCE
Thousands of civilians fled Mosul as Iraqi forces advanced north of a sprawling military base near the city’s airport Friday.
Iraq’s special forces pushed into the Wadi Hajar district in western Mosul and retook the area from the Islamic State group Friday, according to Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasool, spokesman of the Joint Military Operations.
