Omarosa’s disclosure shows odd jobs, trust fund

- Gregory Korte and Donovan Slack

USA TODAY WASHINGTON Omarosa Manigault’s new job as a White House liaison may be the most regular paycheck she’s had in a while.

President Trump’s apprenticeturned-adviser had relatively modest income before joining the White House, cobbling together a living off royalty checks and appearance fees in addition to her $46,000 in salary from the Trump campaign and presidential transition.

Capitalizing off her breakout success on Trump’s “The Apprentice” — where she was the contestant everyone loved to hate — she also received royalty checks worth less than $5,000 for “Raising Whitley” and less than $2,500 each for “The Steve Harvey Show,” “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and “David Tutera Celebrations.”

She also received a half-dozen appearance fees of $1,000 to $5,000 for local plays, corporate functions and church events.

Manigault, a certified special education teacher, even made $400 as a substitute teacher from the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Her biggest score: a bridal package worth $25,000 from Kleinfeld’s in New York City, which she received free as part of a celebrity appearance on TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress.”

The 43-year-old actress and political consultant was engaged to Green Mile actor Michael Clarke Duncan, who died of a heart attack in 2012. He left her with a one-third share of a trust fund that could be worth between $1 million and $5 million.
