Source: Stars bring back Hitchcock as coach

A person with direct knowledge of the situation says Ken Hitchcock is returning to coach the Dallas Stars.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the team hadn’t announced the hire.

Hitchcock won the Stanley Cup with Dallas in 1999, coaching there for parts of seven seasons from 1995-96 through 2001-02. He has since coached the Philadelph­ia Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets and St. Louis Blues.

The 65-year-old was fired as Blues coach in February and replaced by Mike Yeo.

Former Arizona high school basketball player of the year Casey Benson, who won state titles with Tempe Corona del Sol, announced on Twitter that he is leaving the University of Oregon. Benson, a junior, said he would graduate this spring and become a graduate transfer. Benson's brother, T.J., is an assistant men's basketball coach at Grand Canyon.

Lin, Williams help ASU baseball hold off UNLV

Lyle Lin hit a two-run double, Tyler Williams added a home run and ASU baseball (13-18) held on for a 5-3 win over UNLV on Tuesday night at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. Starting pitcher Eli Lingos got the win for the Sun Devils after allowing two earned runs on seven hits in 51⁄3 innings.
