No, we’re not sorry we voted for Trump — so get over it

- OPINIONS.AZCENTRAL.COM

For all you who keep writing and asking if we Trump supporters are sorry for voting for him, I say NO.

He has only been in office for three, months and he’s done more in that time than Obama did in eight years.

Why would I be sorry for voting for him? Please stop the complaining and get over it. — Dot Walsh, Mesa

This Earth Day may have special resonance because of Trump

Earth Day 2017 (Saturday) may be the most important of these yearly celebrations since the first Earth Day in 1970. It’s not just for tree-huggers! This year’s recognition of Earth Day can show President Trump and his administration that the pursuit of science, especially the science of climate change, is critical to the future of life on earth.

Scott Pruitt, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, would have the USA pull out of the Paris Climate Accords and dismantle many of our regulations put in place to slow global warming caused by greenhouse gases.

Secretary Pruitt is also unconcerned about keeping toxic materials out of our water supply.

All the progress we’ve made to protect and care for our environment is at risk from people who do not value the scientific process, the collection of accurate data and the application of science to living systems.

On this Earth Day, join the March for Science taking place in Phoenix, and show the federal government that you care about scientific and medical research.

The futures of our nation and our world depend on the collection of data we can trust. — Ruth Kearns, Tempe

The column Montini should have written about Obamacare

E.J. Montini wrote another scathing column about Republicans. I took that same article and marked it up a tad to make it look like the article he should have written when Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats rammed Obamacare down our throats.

The only changes I made are those included in parentheses:

“There is no way to sugarcoat this, brothers and sisters: You and I are getting shafted. Sorry. Even worse, we are getting shafted by people who are supposed to protect us from getting shafted, people in (Congress).

“How do we know? Simple. We know we are getting the shaft — absolutely and positively — when legislators pass laws that we are required to follow, but they are not. That’s how it is with (Obamacare).

“(Obamacare) applies to you and me. But not to lawmakers. Not only are we getting shafted, but our lawmakers actually want to convince us that being sandbagged, double crossed and otherwise kicked around is in our best interest.

“This is how (Congress) operates. At least, it is how (the Democrats) who control (Congress) – along with their enabler (Nancy Pelosi) see it. Lawmakers get the gold mine; citizens get the shaft.” — Rich Andrews,

To volunteer means to do something on your own volition

I believe United Airlines should face a big punishment for their actions toward the passengers forced off the flight.

It was a wrongful act to drag off one passenger. He looked unconscious. The last time I checked, volunteering means a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise.

The man payed his money just like everyone else on that plane. He did not deserve to be dragged off. United Airlines should face huge consequences and prevent this from happening again.
