Rattlers open 2nd half at home vs. Green Bay

Coach Kevin Guy said he has decided to stick with quarterbac­k Cody Sokol as the Rattlers (4-4) begin the second half of the season at home on Saturday at 6 p.m. against the Green Bay Blizzard.

The game will be televised on FSAZ Plus.

Kenseth wins pole for Sunday at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. - Matt Kenseth won the pole position for Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond rounds of qualifying Friday, outrunning final-round qualifiers like Joey Logano, who was fastest in each of the first two rounds, and Dale Earnhardt Jr., who made it to the final round, but will start 12th.

“I don’t get a lot of poles so any time I get a pole, it’s pretty special,” Kenseth said.

The pole was just the 19th for Kenseth, who will make his 623rd career start this weekend, and his second at Richmond. He and teammates Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch and rookie Daniel Suarez will be trying to give Joe Gibbs Racing its first victory of the season at a track where they have been dominant in recent years. Gibbs cars have won the last three races on the 0.75-mile oval.

Sharapova reaches semifinals at Porsche GP

STUTTGART, Germany - Maria Sharapova advanced to the semifinals of the Porsche Grand Prix by beating Anett Kontaveit of Estonia 6-3, 6-4 Friday.

In her third match following a 15-month doping ban, Sharapova converted five of her six break points.

The Russian, who tested positive for meldonium at last The Russian broke early in the second set, too, and then again for a 4-2 lead.

Sharapova finished the match with four aces to raise her total for the tournament to 24.

The five-time Grand Slam champion and former No. 1 entered the Stuttgart event on a wild card after losing her ranking because of the suspension, which had been reduced on appeal.

Dodgers to induct Scully into Ring of Honor

LOS ANGELES - Retired Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaste­r Vin Scully will be inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor.

The ceremony will be May 3 before a game against the rival San Francisco Giants.

Scully will join Roy Campanella, Don Drysdale, Junior Gilliam, Sandy Koufax, Pee Wee Reese, Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Don Sutton and former managers Walter Alston and Tom Lasorda in the Ring of Honor.
