For one day, enjoy the sights and sounds of Garibaldi Plaza without traveling to Mexico City. The heart of mariachi music beats strong in the plaza, as it will at this fiesta hosted by Casino Del Sol Resort. Two stages host mariachi and baile Folklórico performanc­es by acts from throughout the southwest. Enjoy Mexican food as well as arts-and-crafts vendors at the festival, which culminates the Tucson Internatio­nal Mariachi Conference.

Tucson’s funky Fourth Avenue offers plenty to see and do, but the fun is revved up when hotrodders proudly display their souped-up vehicles. Custom machines from throughout the Southwest will gleam in the sun. Feel free to grill owners how they turned the dial to 11 when it came to turning typical cars and trucks into fierce street rods. Yes, there will be awards.

Arizona Snowbowl ski resort is extending its season due to a heavy snow season. As a result, the resort will offer its first Cinco de Mayo on the Slopes celebratio­n on Friday, May 5. The resort will remain open through Sunday, May 7. Closing weekend festivitie­s include live music, food and beverage special and giveaways.
