Letter writer shows little feeling for people who are dispossessed

-

Teachers receive bonuses based on this test and it determines which students move on to 4th grade. In the near future this test could be used to determine which schools qualify for resultsbased funding.

One would imagine that with so much riding on this test, the state could guarantee that at least the testing system works like it should!

It is time that Arizona wake up to the reality that high-stakes tests lack validity and should not be used to do more than inform teachers and parents of student progress. It should not be used as evidence that we are failing.

Let Trump release his tax returns, and we’ll decide if they matter

who filed tax returns for decades, I believe millions of people would understand Trump’s tax returns if they were made available.

As to the statement: “No prior president has had a tax return as complex as The Donald’s,” how could you know this without viewing The Donald’s tax return? — Howard Caplan, Scottsdale

To the writer who espouses to the notion that if you can’t afford to feed your kids, don’t have kids: What planet have you been living on? When most people have children, they are very aware whether or not they can afford to feed them. Once a child is here sometimes a crisis occurs and then all of a sudden you can’t afford to feed your family.

A crisis like loss of a job, death of a breadwinner, a crippling accident, insurmountable medical bills, etc.

So stop criticizing people who are being helped by food stamps or the food banks. “But for the grace of God go I” should be your mantra.

You should be so fortunate to not have to worry about where your child is going to get his next meal. Self-righteous people like you make me very ill. — Pat Hanson,

Trump obsesses over the really important stuff — his ratings

It’s a very sad day when President Trump brags about his ratings being higher on Face the Nation than they were on September 11th.

That was one of the most horrific days in history and he worries about ratings! Will he ever worry more about the American people than he will his own ratings? What a blowhard.
