Mr. Organic and Bring in the Beard: Two funky t-shirts in the clubhouse

- SCOTT BORDOW

The baseball season can become monotonous, the days bleeding into weeks, the weeks into months. A little laughter is never a bad thing and so, on Saturday, several of the Diamondbacks sported funky T-shirts, one featuring Archie Bradley, the other Randall Delgado.

The red Bradley T-shirt has a picture of Bradley’s face, his full beard and a cap that says “Archie.” Underneath Bradley’s beard are the words, “Bring In the Beard.”

The shirt was designed and licensed by Major League Baseball and is on sale in the team shop.

“It’s one of the best shirts I’ve seen,” said third baseman Jake Lamb.

That’s what makes shortstop Chris Owings so mad (facetiously so). Owings is the Diamondbacks’ in-house designer and he came up with the Delgado shirt, which has Delgado in uniform, surrounded by pictures of celery, broccoli, assorted fruits and other vegetables. Just above Delgado is written, “Mr. Organic.”

Yet it’s the Bradley shirt that is being sold to fans.

“It’s pretty cool to see Archie’s in the team shop,” said Owings, who also designed last year’s David Peralta “Freight Train” T-shirt.

And the Mr. Organic theme for Delgado?

“As you guys know we have all cleaned up our diets this year,” Bradley said. “I know most of our food here is organic. It’s healthy and guys have really bought in. Randall was the guy who dove in head first. He kind of took off with it, yelling organic after a lot of stuff. So he’s Mr. Organic.”

Starting rotation set

There’s been some confusion as to the Diamondbacks' rotation the next few days, but manager Torey Lovullo cleared everything up before Saturday’s game against Philadelphia.

After Randall Delgado gets a spot start Sunday the rest of the rotation will fall back into place with an extra day’s rest. So it will be Zack Greinke on Monday, followed by Taijuan Walker, Zack Godley, Patrick Corbin and Robbie Ray.
