There are consequences for your choice to illegally cross border

handicapped people from protesting outside U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell’s office.

People in wheelchairs and the blind were arrested. Some sat in their wheelchairs with hands behind their chairs and zip tied. This is an awful picture to present to the world.

A senator or two could have taken this group into a room and actually listened to their concerns. But senators cannot do that because the Koch brothers, large donors, have told members of Congress not to listen to their constituents. Listen only to the Koch brothers.

This means our government is corrupt. The members of Congress have no allegiance to the people who elected them. We need to hold our representatives accountable, starting with Senators Jeff Flake and John McCain, who are complicit in their silence.

Donald Trump can’t blow steam and then call the kettle black

and I wouldn’t lose any voters,” I find an interesting contrast to Johnny Depp — both his recent comments about violence toward Trump and the sharp criticism generated by Depp’s comments.

These Trump comments run the risk of changing the boundaries of respectful discourse. If you change the game, you can’t whine about outcomes.

Yet, again, there is a news story about illegal immigrants opposing legislation because it “will tear families apart.”

The illegals needs to realize that they have made the decision to take the chance on getting deported, as they’re the ones who crossed the border illegally. — JC Edwards, Sun City

It’s not fair to give tuition breaks to non-citizens before citizens

A board member is quoted saying, “We have a moral and ethical responsibility to our students.”

I agree with that statement but the moral and ethical responsibility is to provide a quality education, not offer the college courses at a discounted rate to non-citizens.

Do not forget that the discounts are paid for by Arizona taxpayers.

How moral and ethical is it to charge out-of-state tuition to out-of-state students who are citizens of the USA while discounting tuition costs to illegal residents? Keep in mind that deferred deportation status does not confer any special rights on anyone.

Some of you youngsters may not be aware of this. Our immigration laws used to impose two requirements : (1) Loyalty and allegiance to our laws and Constitution and (2) a visible means of self financial support.

In other words, you couldn’t emigrate to the USA and immediately receive a public financial dole.

Times sure have changed, haven’t they? — Wiliam Wade, Mesa
