Of all the things you could hone in on, it was ‘Republican donor’

-

The headline “Farsi notation derails GOP donor’s plea in fraud case” really got my attention.

I was eagerly anticipating yet another nail in the GOP’s credibility coffin. What followed was a story about a woman charged with 87 counts of fraud with a criminal history that spans 40 years.

She was accused of bank fraud, money laundering, identity theft, defrauding victims, real-estate fraud and illegally posing as a non-profit.

Part of her plea deal was that she wanted to protect her daughter from prosecution. The foreign-language disclaimer next to her signature is really the only interesting part of this story.

Without the notation, this is just another run of the mill crook tale. It was also noted that since 2004 she had contributed $31,000 to GOP candidates.

If my elementary school math serves me, that’s about $2,500 per year. So with the litany of everything this woman was accused of, the headline writer felt the defining aspect of the story was that she had contributed to GOP candidates. Wow!

Mr. President, take your kids and tuck them away in your business

It was not only poor judgement, it was just plain dumb for Don Jr. to meet with a Russian government official, seeking dirt that might be harmful to Hillary. And I think he knows that, now. But a more important concern is this: Why does our president have to surround himself with his children?

Don’t they have something else that could keep them occupied somewhere in the Trump empire?

If it isn’t who Junior meets with, it’s Ivanka’s choice of clothing, or why she sat in for the president when he took a break from the G20 meeting. Mr President, smarten up. Put these bright kids to work somewhere else where these predators can’t get at them.

Don’t you realize that the opposition will never let you off the hook on this.

Latino rights organization should sing hosannas to Donald Trump

La Raza, recently renamed UnidosUS, should be happy that Donald J. Trump is their president.

That my sound strange but given the increase in the number of new members and increased volunteers they should be happy.

Had it not been for President Trump they would still be struggling to gain much headway in their efforts.

La Raza should be sending him a thank-you card.
