Camping out: The Cardinals will treat

Saturday’s preseason game against the Falcons as their “get-ready” game for the regular season, Arians said. To that extent, they’ll install a game plan specifically for Atlanta’s defense and the starters, with the exception of running back David Johnson and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, will be in for at least 30 plays. Arians said treating the game like a regular-season contest will help quarterback Carson Palmer, whom he said held onto the ball too long against the Bears last Saturday. “We were just running some of the stuff we’ve been working on. It just didn’t pan out,” Arians said. Arians knows Johnson won’t like sitting out much of Saturday’s game but, “He’ll like it in November.” As for Fitzgerald, “I don’t think after this many years Larry needs to be tackled,” Arians said. “And if we throw it to him they’ll probably tackle him so we probably won’t throw it to him.” … Wide receiver John Brown (quad) returned to practice Monday but Arians said Brown would miss practice the rest of the week to attend a funeral and then join the team in Atlanta. Brown said he is feeling better this week but when asked if he would be ready for the season opener in Detroit, he said he was only focused on Saturday's game. Injury report: Guard Mike Iupati left practice early with an undisclosed injury. Cole Turner ran first team left guard in his absence … Linebacker Josh Bynes (hamstring), wide receiver Aaron Dobson (hamstring), wide receiver Brittan Golden (groin) and wide receiver Rudy Ford (hamstring) returned to practice Monday. Quote: “That ain’t right man, that ain’t right. How can you even do something like that? You put a Chick-fil-A in a stadium and you all play on Sunday. Everybody is going to expect Chick-fil-A to be open on Sundays. That’s tough, man. I feel sorry for the people down there. That’s embarrassing. You can’t do that to the fans. Hopefully Chick-fil-A steps their game up and opens on Sunday.” – Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby on the Chick-fil-A built in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Falcons, not being open on Sundays. Up next: The Cardinals will practice Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at University of Phoenix Stadium. The practice will be open to the public.
