MCSO says Tonopah pair forced threesome with sitter
Sheriff: Girl, 15, ‘felt pressured’ to have sex twice
A couple from Tonopah was arrested Wednesday on allegations they coerced an underage babysitter to have sex with them on two separate occasions over the summer, Maricopa County sheriff’s records show.
Authorities say Samantha Ohlman, 23, and Jeffery Swartz, 27, asked the girl, who was 15 at the time, if she wanted to have a threesome with them while she was babysitting the couple’s children in May.
Despite the girl’s reluctance, she told deputies she “felt pressured to have sex with them,” according to a summary from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
Several weeks later, in July, the girl said the couple asked her again to have sex with them several times.
When she again expressed reluctance, “she felt pressured and had sex with (Swartz) and (Ohlman),” court records show.
On Aug. 1, the girl’s grandmother reported to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office that the girl had told her about the incidents. The call prompted an investigation.
Ohlman and Swartz were arrested at their home Wednesday on suspicion of four counts, including sexual conduct with a minor and luring a minor for sexual exploitation.
While being interrogated by detectives, Swartz denied having any sexual contact with the girl.
Ohlman, however, told detectives the couple had brought the teenager into the bedroom but that she had felt uncomfortable about the situation.
“(Ohlman) stated that she was not comfortable having sex with the victim due to the possibility that she could go to jail,” according to the charging summary.
Court records show investigators were able to verify several distinguishing features about the suspects that had been described by the girl.
Neither Ohlman nor Swartz had any prior arrest record, according to documents filed by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
Ohlman and Swartz were being held in jail on a $25,000 bond Friday.
Their next court hearing is Thursday.
