The drug companies are taking over our lives

-

We often wonder why we have so serious a drug problem in the United States with thousands dying every day from overdoses.

TV used to be the ad mecca for toothpaste and home products. Today, you cannot get through a night without drug ads. Drugs for allergy, diabetes, etc.

The answer to all our problems has become “a pill.” The drug companies have taken control of our lives. It is time to stop all the pandering of pills and leave the choice and dispensing to the professionals.

The victims of DACA need no less relief than the victims of weather

I equate the people caught up in Harvey, Irma and DACA as all victims of circumstances in which they had no control.

I am pleased that Congress acted to help the Harvey and Irma victims as quickly as they have. The DACA children deserve the same swift action.

I realize there are other related concerns. For these, I suggest a laddered path to citizenship for the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) children. For their parents, they would be allowed to stay as an act of humanity to not divide families, but they would be put at the end of the line with those who are currently applying legally to be citizens of the United States.

There would be no further exceptions!

Why can’t Congress do the same with this issue as it did with other dire needs of our country. Get rid of the politics and hate we have in our country or get out of the way for problem-solvers to do the trench work.

Some of the real culprits of an illegal workforce are employers

In all the chatter of deporting DACA and illegal workers, why is no one looking at the source of the problem?
