Joseph Anthony Faggella, 42, of Tempe, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017 after a hard battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. Joey was born in Phoenix, Arizona on October 17, 1974 to Peter and Karen Faggella. After attending Marcos de Niza High School in Tempe, Joey joined the United States Marine Corp and was stationed at Camp Pendleton. As a sergeant, he was honorably discharged in 2003 and lived in San Diego where he worked as a yacht finisher for 13 years. Joey became a truck driver, which gave him the opportunit­y to enjoy the beautiful landscape of the America he loved .Throughout his life Joey enjoyed cycling and competitiv­e sailing. He had an eye for detail that came through in his woodworkin­g, hobbies and everyday life. He also had a love for music and played the bass guitar. He is survived by his mother, Karen Faggella (Johnsen) of Tempe, his sister and brother-in-law, Dena and Daniel Ramirez of Queen Creek, niece, Macy Ramirez, grandmothe­r, Louise Thompsen of Tempe and dear friend Katie Tegley; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will join his father, Peter, in Heaven. Joey’s strength and determinat­ion was astonishin­g to everyone who knew him. He will be forever etched in our hearts. A Prayer Service will be celebrated Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Queen of Heaven Catholic Funeral Home, 1562 E. Baseline Road Mesa, Arizona 85204. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Queen of Heaven Catholic Funeral Home, Mesa, Arizona.
