Luebke, Christoph Henry
56 of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on September, 17, 2017. He was being treated at Banner University Medical Center for ongoing pulmonary infections, a common complication for people living with paralysis. He was later transferred to Ryan House where he was surrounded by his family and countless friends. Chris severed his spinal cord when he fractured his neck while playing high school football for the Camelback Spartans in 1978. He navigated the challenges of life as a quadriplegic with incredible strength, spirit and determination. Chris was born in Farmington Minnesota on Nov. 28, 1960. He graduated from Camelback High School in 1979. After his injury, Chris received rehabilitation services at the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in Golden Valley, MN, where he learned many life skills including how to drive a vehicle. He later attended the University of Minnesota, transferred back to Arizona and received his Bachelor of Science Finance degree at Arizona State University. He is survived by his parents Fred and Pat Luebke, brothers Gregg, Rick, Fred, sister Julie and several cherished nephews, nieces and grandnieces. His love for family and friends and passion for sports could not be matched. His courage in the face of adversity will always be our inspiration. A celebration of Life will be held Oct. 21, at 1:00 p.m. at Madison Baptist Church, 6202 N. 12 th St., Phoenix, AZ. Following the service, there will be a reception at the home of Fred Luebke and his wife Davida, 245 W. Flynn Ln. Phoenix, AZ 85013.
