77 of Phoenix, passed away on September 22, 2017. He was born April 3,1940 in Frankfort, IN to the late James and June McClure. They moved to Phoenix when Dennis was twelve. He attended Capitol, Grace Court schools, Phoenix Union Vocational High School and Northrop Institute of Technology, Inglewood, CA. His 37 year military career began when he enlisted in the AZ Air Natl. Guard, Oct. 11 1962 as a drill status guardsman. In 1965 he became a full-time employee of the 161st Air Refueling Group and promoted to Equipment Maintenanc­e Branch Supervisor in 1994. The NASA Maintenanc­e Agreement and the Air Force 37-T9 Engine Test Cell are just a couple of the many National and Internatio­nal projects in which Chief McClure was involved. Servicing NATO aircraft in mid-air provided around the world travel and Dennis was proud to have served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Upon retirement he joined American Legion Post 1, serving on the Executive board. He was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Easter Seals. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sheila, son Garrett (Kasandra), daughters Alexa and Tanya (Jon), sisters Sharon and Dixie (Gale), sister-in-law Jeanne. Eight grandchild­ren, three great grandchild­ren and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service with military honors, Saturday October 14, 2017 at Encanto Community Church, 2710 N. 7th Ave. Phoenix; 10:00-11:00 a.m. greet the family, followed by the service. At noon, a Celebratio­n of Life Luncheon at American Legion Post 1, 364 N. 7th Ave. Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Legion, Church or any veteran’s services.
