EPA CHIEF PLANS OVERRIDE ON CLEAN POWER PLAN
The head of the Environmental Protection Agency said Monday that he will sign a rule overriding the Clean Power Plan, an Obama-era effort to limit carbon emissions from coal-fired power plants.
“The war on coal is over,” EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt said in Kentucky. He said no federal agency “should ever use its authority” to “declare war on any sector of our economy.”
As attorney general of Oklahoma, Pruitt was among those who sued to stop President Obama’s push in 2014 to limit carbon emissions.

Two women who lived at a Florida nursing home that lost air conditioning during Hurricane Irma have died, the 13th and 14th fatalities there.
Hollywood police spokeswoman Miranda Grossman told the Associated Press that Cecilia Franco, 90, and Francesca Andrade, 95, died from ailments suffered when the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills lost power Sept. 10.
