Hass, David Lee Roy

-

71, passed away suddenly on October 4, 2017. Dave was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend who was best known as a ’gentle giant,’ loved and respected by all who knew him. He was successful both in his personal and professional life, leaving a legacy of generosity and love for his family and friends that we are extremely proud of. He was born May 10, 1946 in Miller Beach, Indiana to Winifred and Theodore Hass. Dave was the middle of three children born and raised in the small steel mill community on Lake Michigan. He loved the beach and lake life. His younger years were sports centered which led him to receive a scholarship to play football at Culver Stockton College, and he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Economics. He was also a proud member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and kept in contact with many of them throughout his life. After college, Dave was contacted by various professional football organizations and eventually signed with the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, and St. Louis Cardinals. After an injury kept him from playing, he moved west to Arizona with his wife Kathy Hass and son Christian and went on to become a successful executive in the construction materials industry. He will be greatly missed by all those blessed by knowing him, including friends and colleagues all over the nation, but most of all his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Martha Hass, and brother Robert Hass. He is survived by his son and daughter in law Christian and Genevieve Hass, and his 4 grandchildren Bayley, Payton, Tristan, and Reese. Memorial services will be held at 3pm Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Shiloh Community Church, 19021 N 32nd Street, Phoenix, AZ 85050.
