The daughter of Kyrene District farmers Leo and Helen Ramsey, she graduated from Tempe High in 1956 and remained active with Tempe High School reunions and the Tempe Old Settlers Group. Rawnie excelled in home making projects in 4-H club, earning a trip to Chicago as one of her many awards. She met her future husband John Sparks III in 4-H and had two sons. The couple moved to Wickenburg, AZ and opened the Bar-S Animal Clinic, the name she suggested. As a 4-H leader, she taught cooking skills her students excelled at. Her community services included being a Wickenburg Hospital Candy Stripe Aide, the Gold Rush Days Melodramas, Desert Caballeros Museum, St Albans Episcopal Church and Lioness Club to name a few. Rawnie later married realtor Tom Fisher. The couple moved to Prescott where Rawnie volunteere­d at the School for the Deaf and Blind, successful­ly writing annual grant funded projects. They later moved to Apache Junction where Rawnie worked for AT&T until retiring. During retirement, she toured Arizona, fall leaf colors in Maine, even whales in Mexico. Rawnie is preceded in death by her parents, brother Lawrence (Butch) and nephew David. Survivors include brothers Randall and Kenneth, (Sandy), sons John, (Julie) and Jim, (Cynthia), grandsons John, Jake, (Katie) and Jesse, (Heather), 4 great grandsons, 3 great granddaugh­ters and many nephews and nieces. A gathering of her friends and family will be held Saturday October 28 from 2- 4pm, with a Memorial Service beginning at 2:30pm, at the Resthaven / Carr-Tenney Mortuary 4310 E. Southern Ave Phoenix, AZ. 85042. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Tempe Historical Society.
