Eleanor Mae Cameron, 95, of Tempe, AZ went home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2017. She was born on April 23, 1922 in Springfiel­d, MA to Fred & Gladys Wood. Eleanor graduated from Technical High School in Springfiel­d in 1939 and from Springfiel­d School of Nursing in 1945. Eleanor wed Albert Forbes Cameron on July 18, 1945 in Coronado, CA. Eleanor and Albert were married for 64 years until Albert’s passing in 2009. Eleanor was preceded in death by her brother Fred and sister Ruth. Eleanor is survived by her six children, Charles (Karen), Christine (Rick) Burdett, Lisa (Neil) Watson, Paul (Anna), Ann (Lew) Coleman and Scott (Rose), 15 grandchild­ren and 28 great-grandchild­ren. Eleanor was a Registered Nurse during World War II and returned to nursing after her children were grown for an additional 12 years at Southside and Desert Samaritan Hospitals in Mesa until her retirement in 1982. During their child-rearing years, they were members of Camelback Baptist Church in Phoenix and when the family moved to Tempe in 1966 they joined First Baptist Church of Tempe. Upon retirement, they loved camping and travelling in their motor home. Eleanor was a Master Seamstress, and loved fishing. She still holds a record for the largest Northern Pike at Mormon Lake where they owned a cabin. Memorial service at First Baptist Church of Tempe (4525 S. McClintock Drive, Tempe) on Saturday, October 28 at 2:00 pm. Reception following.
