D-Backs first lady on beating breast cancer

We can learn just as much about grit and perseveran­ce from an everyday woman as we can from the toughest ballplayer.

Take for example Amy Hall, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer 18 months ago and has endured chemo, hair loss, radiation, surgery, blood transfusio­ns and a creeping doubt that she didn’t dare speak out loud: She thought she was going to die.

“That’s exactly how I felt,” Hall said.

This month, right around the same time the Diamondbac­ks were popping champagne to celebrate their National League wild-card game victory, Hall, whose husband is the club’s president and CEO, finished her treatment protocol. She’s in remission, and to bookend
