Fading Cardinals are in need of Hail Mary
Proud teams share a common delusion. They believe until their dying breath. They are the last to see the end of the road.
The Cardinals are no different. And no longer special. Their short-term plan feels like a Hail Mary. Their roster is the oldest in the NFL. Their long-term hopes are dim and undefined. They haven’t had a winning record since 2015. They’ve been blown out in consecutive road games, a team that looked frail and stale before losing their franchise quarterback.
This feels like the end of the greatest era in Arizona Cardinals history. Even worse, it might be the edge of a cliff, the final stand before a precipitous fall. How can it not be over?
