Diamondbacks keep finding ways to win series

WASHINGTON – The Diamondbacks eliminated the drama of extending their consecutive series victories streak by beating the Washington Nationals twice in as many days, the latest a 4-3 win in 10 innings on Saturday evening. It was the ninth series they’ve won in as many tries this season. It’s been 111 years since a National League team won more to open a year.
What the Diamondbacks have managed to do thus far is both impressive and explanation-defying. They remain without their anticipated Nos. 4 and 5 hitters and field a lineup that elicits raised eyebrows

from opposing scouts. Their top two starters have a combined ERA approaching 5.00. Their bullpen was built on the cheap and looked like a question mark entering the year.
And yet they have won 19 times in their first 26 games. Their offense scores just enough every night, their defense is close to airtight, the rotation has been solid and their bullpen has been the best in the majors.
To say they’re catching breaks suggests they’re not playing well, which isn’t the case, but when the opposing manager makes a pitching change but is somehow unable to get the matchup he wants, well, it feels like a sign the Diamondbacks have
