Kids to Parks Day

Launched in 2011, Kids to Parks Day is a nationwide celebratio­n of the great outdoors organized by National Park Trust and is designed to connect kids and families with their local, state and national public lands. Two Arizona State Parks are offering activities. Homolovi State Park near Winslow will have kids activities, a petroglyph hike, a Junior Ranger program and solar telescope viewing. Red Rock State Park in Sedona will host a Nature Expedition with activities, guided hikes and presentati­ons about Arizona’s creepy crawly creatures.

Details: Jerome Historic Home and Building Tour

Come explore the back streets of this historic mining town during the annual home tour. This year’s tour includes the first look at the home of environmen­talist Katie Lee, who also wrote books and songs. She died in November 2017 at the age of 98. Wear comfortabl­e shoes; the tour includes plenty of steps.

9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 19-20. Last tickets are sold at 3 p.m. Park at the 300 level and take the bus to Spook Hall; the tour begins at the original JC Penney on Hull Avenue, Jerome. $25, $10 for kids, free for age 3 and younger. jeromecham­ber.com.
