SCOTTSDALE – Carol L. Planeta ( Spotts) 87 of Scottsdale Az.

Carol L. Planeta Passed away peacefully in her sleep April 7th 2018 in Santa Barbara Ca. Carol was born in February 1931 to Louis and Anna Faye Spotts (parents) in Warroad MN.

She attended high school in Warroad Mn. Then with her sister Mary Ann, came west to attend Arizona State University previous known as Arizona State Teachers College, Arizona State College. It was there she met the love of her life. Ray “Whitey” Planeta. (d.1989) . She and Whitey enjoyed 37 years of marriage.

Proceeded in death by: Louis Spotts, Anna Faye Shultz (parents), George Spotts (brother), Ray Planeta (husband).

She is survived by her children: Debra Costello (daughter), Lori & Lee Mikles (daughter/son in law) , Eric Planeta (son).

Her grandchild­ren: Ray Costello, Spencer Mikles, Alison Mikles, Ryan Mikles.

Her sisters: June Birdie Fish, Mary Ann Nelson, Evelyn Fish.

Carol lived life to the fullest. She cherished the life long friendship­s of people she and Whitey met at ASU, Lane Title Co., Arcadia H.S Booster Club, ACC and more.

She enjoyed volunteeri­ng at The Scottsdale Boys and Girls Club Thrift Shop in Scottsdale.

Her spare time was spent on her sewing machine creating outfits for the kids or herself.

She looked forward to challengin­g her grandchild­ren to a game of Scrabble, Monopoly , or Kings in the Corner any chance she could get.

Her quick wit, sense of humor and love of politics will be missed and not forgotten.

Carol spent the last years of her life courageous­ly battling illness with the love and care of the Mikles family in Santa Barbara.
