PHOENIX – Lauren was born in Lancaster, California. She is the sole daughter of Elizabeth Hutchinson. She has numerous aunts and uncles: Thelma, Anthony, Dean, Bruce, Michael, Jasper, Elaine, Miller, and Henry.

Lauren and Elizabeth moved to Phoenix, and lived near 7th Street and Cocopah Street. She graduated from Lowell Elementary School and Phoenix Union High School. Lauren bought her first home in 1977.

While in high school, Lauren worked with the Phoenix Police Department and got a job in the Identifica­tion Bureau. She obtained an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from NAU.

Lauren became a legal assistant with the Phoenix City Prosecutor’s Office. She was promoted to an Administra­tive Assistant II, and became the Prosecutor’s Office Systems Security Officer. She supervised the Training, Domestic Violence, and Technology units. Three times she was recognized for Excellence in the City by the City Manager. She retired after more than 30 years with the City of Phoenix.

Kent Kearney met Lauren at the Prosecutor’s Office. They have been together for 28 years.

Lauren regularly attended Bible study meetings at her mother’s home and was an avid genealogis­t. She published several family tree books and helped with family reunions and celebratio­n of life slideshows.

A Celebratio­n of Lauren’s Life will be held on Friday, June 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Institutio­nal Baptist Church located at 1141 East Jefferson Street, Phoenix.
