KANSAS CITY, MO Mr. George Douglas Gunn, of Kansas City, Missouri, born on January 5, 1919 in Kearney, Nebraska, to the late Eva Mae and the late Clarence A, passed away at age 99 on May 20, 2018 in Mesa, Arizona. He attended Central Missouri State University. From 1941 to 1968, George served in the Air Force in the Korean War and he also worked in the Military industry as a test pilot at Air Force until he retired in 1968. George was married to the late Patricia. He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter; and sister, Mary Louise. George is survived by his son, Terry (Terri) Gunn; grandchild­ren, Lindy (Dean) Rowley, Kim (Clint) Rowley; and greatgrand­children, Cole, Masen, Gunner and Lincoln Rowley, Kendall Stevens, and Moriah Rowley. He also leaves behind his adored dog, Buddy. George enjoyed real estate, feeding wildlife (quail, rabbits), fishing, trips to lake powell, gardening, reading, camping in the white mountains, and was a lover of hershey’s chocolate. He was a Brother and board member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity, an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Mic-o-say tribe, an honorary member of the American Fighter Aces and a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity. Donations in George’s name to Habitat For Humanity are welcome and appreciate­d. Memories of his joyful smile and optimism will always fill our hearts with gratitude. He lived a life of service and that is what kept him going. He will be greatly missed and honored in the lives of his friends and family. A military honors service will held in the fall.
