Warren Chesney Scott Jr.

-

PARADISE VALLEY – Scotty graduated from Twenty Nine Palms high school where he was a thespian, lettered in basketball, football, baseball, served on the student council, and chartered the Twenty Nine Palms Throttle Stompers. He enlisted in the military and was stationed at Scott Air Force base in Illinois as a Technical Instructor where he received an appointment to the Air Force Academy. However, he had already met Roberta Odile Pirson, “Skip” while working at her father’s restaurant and historically turned down this appointment and joyfully married his true love. Scotty and Skip have been married for 62 years. Wherever Skip was, Scotty was not far behind. All who knew Scotty knows that his lovely wife, four children (Morris, Michelle, Michael and Kelly), ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews were his pride and joy. He was a world class husband, patriarch, family man, all around mentor, and great friend with a quick wit and a strong shoulder.

During his working years Scotty became a 3rd degree Master Mason, served at Shaw Air Force Base, was employed at General Electric, Honeywell, and became a formidable pioneer in the foundation of the main frame computer maintenance industry. Names and numbers were his specialty and he wasn’t afraid to be both bold and kind in the workplace. It was in 1989 that his company, Signature Technology Group, STG, was formed. This company began with four people around a card table and in 2015 was sold to a Fortune 500 company.

Along with his impeccable work ethic, strong moral compass and solid faith, Scotty was always prompt with shined shoes (a nod to his military days), a clean shave and a fresh haircut. He loved cars, especially clean cars. He was always up for a Sunday drive and countless memories were made traveling across country or just across town, and most recently at car shows with his ’55 Chevy.

With family around him, and his dog Toby at his side, spending time at the cabin in Prescott or looking over the beach in La Jolla was where this man was most content. As the star of fast pitch softball teams in his youth, Scotty brought his passion to his children’s involvement in pop warner football, softball, Indian guides, and horses. He taught his family and all of those around him that chores and hard work were a good thing. It is a known fact that each of his children know how to dig a post hole, drive a nail, use a level, roast a pig, catch a snake, scout for animals, start a campfire, bait a hook, mow a yard, drive a stick shift and buy a horse. Scotty was a constant to the children in the family and never faltered. He could be counted on for unconditional love, telling jokes, doing his famous magic tricks, choosing schools, cheering them on, and proudly became an ordained minister to marry them.

A few of Scotty’s favorite things included sporting events, concerts, golf, plays, musicals, operas, house hunting, remodeling, building things and selling stuff. It is with these things he is remembered.
