Daniel E. Reyes
PHOENIX – Daniel E. Reyes, 60, of Phoenix passed peacefully away at his home on May 10th, 2018, surrounded by his children, sisters, parents, and beloved dog Max.
Dan was born in Los Angeles, California to parents Francisco and Viola Reyes. He had three sistersDorene, Cathy, and Frances. From a young age Dan always made sure they were taken care of, always valuing the important bond of family. He developed his light-hearted teasing nature at a young age often causing mischief with his sister Dorene.
Dan’s favorite quote was from Nelson Mandela: “I never lose. I either win or learn.” This outlook helped him to succeed in all he did, both personally and professionally.
Dan’s incredible drive, leadership, and intelligence led him to be a successful boss, colleague, and mentor to many over his 45 years in the swimming pool industry resulting in countless lifelong friendships.
Dan’s greatest source of pride were his children and grandchildren. He had nine beloved children- Nathan, Brian, Kaitlin, Stephanie, Jessica, Hannah, Jordan, Ashlee, and Brooke. He also had 21 grandchildren that he loved to spoil with treats and trinkets. He often picked up toys and bought movies that he thought they would enjoy the next time they came to visit him. He was incredibly proud of each of his children- especially for the things that made each of them unique. You would be hard pressed to find someone who knew Dan that didn’t know about the accomplishments and happenings in his children’s lives. Dan had a wide variety of hobbies that he enjoyed; hunting with his sons and buddies, working on various projects around the house, and tinkering with various gadgets he loved. Dan loved being outdoors. His favorite times were spent sitting outside enjoying the weather, camping, or riding on his ranger, rhino, or Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Dan will be remembered most for his infectious laugh and unique personality. He was able to transition from being the tough boss at work, to being a carefree goofball at home, relaxing outside with his family. He will be remembered for excelling at every title he wore: dad, brother, grandfather, son, boss and friend. He rests in eternal peace, not alone, but with friends, family, and God, who have been waiting for him; as we will wait to meet with him again someday.
