PHOENIX – Julie Diane Ramnitz beloved wife, mother, and grandmothe­r has left us to be with God. Julie died on May 9, 2018, after a more than nineyear struggle with an incurable respirator­y disease. Julie was born on April 17, 1943, in Huntington Park, California and spent most of her early years in Southern California. She attended UCLA and then embarked on her first job as a flight attendant for Continenta­l and then American airlines. Julie, who was always known for her beauty and grace, went on to successful careers in modeling, event planning, interior design, winning a few beauty pageants along the way. She married, and In November of 1971, Julie became the proud mother of her first and only child Mark Bender. After several ski trips to Park City, Utah, Julie decided the family should move from the beach to the snow and made Park City their new home. She spent her time raising her son and doing what she loved; Skiing in the winter and riding her horses in the mountains in the summer. She also used her talents in charitable and community service working on the Para Olympics, the Sundance Film Festival, and the Egyptian Theatre. In April of 1989 she met her beloved husband Carl Ramnitz. On September 17,1989, the two were wed. Julie was married to Carl for 28 years and each day their love grew stronger. In 2005, due to a job change, she and Carl moved to northern California settling in the East Bay of San Francisco in San Ramon. In 2009 Julie was hospitaliz­ed for ten days with pneumonia. After the ten days in the hospital she was released to go home, but the damage done to her lungs was irreparabl­e. Julie gradually declined over the years. In 2013 Carl retired early and they moved to Arizona in the hopes that the warmer dryer climate would benefit her. The dryer climate and the excellent care provided by the doctors and nurses at the Mayo Clinic – Arizona helped to extend Julie’s life for more than five years. Through it all, with the strength of her faith and the support of her husband and family, she was able to rest in peace knowing that she would be with God and all of her pain and sorrow would be gone. Julie will be missed by all whose lives she touched and she will never be forgotten. She was the perfect creation, beautiful on the outside and even more beautiful on the inside. Julie is survived by her loving and devoted husband Carl, her son Mark Bender and his wife Kayla, step son Timothy Ramnitz and his wife Rika, beloved daughter in law Mary Scott Roberts, and three grandchild­ren Faith, Layne, and Summer Bender. A funeral honoring Julie’s life will be held at Atonement Lutheran Church, 4001 W Beardsley Road, Glendale, AZ at 2:00 PM on June 2, 2018. In leu of flowers Julie has requested that donations be made in her name to Atonement Lutheran Church or to the Mayo Clinic Foundation for Medical Education and Research -Respirator­y Diseases, 13400 East Shea Blvd. Scottsdale, AZ, 85259.
