Ruth Maple

LITCHFIELD PARK – On Sunday afternoon, June 24, 2018, Ruth Maple received her angel wings and has flown to Heaven. She passed away peacefully under Hospice of the West care at Hacienda Del Rey in Litchfield Park, AZ. She was born Ruth Mae Robbins on September 30, 1927, the fifth and last child of John M. and Martha B. (Yeager) Robbins in Carrollton, Ohio. After graduating from Carrollton High School in 1946, Ruth went to work for the telephone company in Alliance, Ohio. There, she met the love of her life, Norman W. Maple, on a double date with a married couple. The married couple, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Murtz, thought the two would make a great couple and they were absolutely right! They were married for 46 years until Norm passed away in 1996. Nine years after starting their family in Alliance, Ruth and Norm packed up and moved out west to the Phoenix, AZ area for the drier climate to improve their son’s health. While raising their family, Norm and Ruth developed a wide circle of friends in a Masonic social group called the Sciots. Ruth joined the Laurel chapter of Eastern Star and she is a past Worthy Matron.

For the last twenty plus years, Ruth has been an avid card games and board games player at each of the senior living facilities (4) she resided at. She kept a busy schedule and had made many wonderful friends in these gaming circles/groups. Regrettably, failing eyesight had forced her to greatly reduce those activities.

Ruth is survived by son Curtis (Linda) Maple and daughter Christine( Robert McDermott). Two grandchildren-- Ryan(Ashley) Maple and Celena (Jonathan) Franklin. Five great grandchildren— Sophie, Lydia, Madden, Archer, and Nathan. She was preceded in death by all her siblings and their spouses; Helen (Lloyd) Borland, Harold (Pearl) Robbins, Margaret (William) Snodgrass, and Ralph (Rowena) Robbins, as well as many/most of her social network of friends.

A private service was performed at Greenwood Memory Lawn.
