ANTHEM – Linda Darlene Lindner, 69, of Anthem Arizona passed away peacefully on Saturday June 23rd with her husband, daughter and son by her side. Linda was born March 24th 1949 in Erie Pennsylvania and graduated from McDowell High School in 1967. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Thiel College and went on to work with children with emotional challenges.

Linda married her junior high school sweetheart Don in 1970 and spent 48 wonderful years together. They were blessed with two amazing children, Diane and Eric as well as two delightful grandchildren Matix and Cambria.

Linda was an unbelievably caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to spend as much time with her children and grandchildren as possible as well as travel with Don and friends.

Linda had a great talent for sewing and knitting and a passion for helping children. She combined this love into a hobby which literally helped thousands of kids. She started the One Dress at a Time program at both the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale and The Boys & Girls Club of Flagstaff. Through her leadership these programs provided handmade dresses for little girls who never had a new dress. Over the years the number of children’s faces she put a smile on numbered in the thousands. In addition, she was a talented and prolific knitter who was a member of four different knitting/ stitching groups who each met weekly where she knitted doll clothes, scarves, shawls and sweaters. Everything she made she sold at the annual Women’s Auxiliary charity event which raised thousands of dollars to support the Scottsdale Boys & Girls Club kids.

She is survived by her husband Don, daughter Diane, son Eric, daughter-law Bree and grandchildren Matix and Cambria.

She will be remembered as one of the most caring, loving and generous of people. Everyone who knew and loved her will miss her greatly.

There will be a Celebration of Linda’s Life at the Thunderbird Branch of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale on July 21st at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution in her memory to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Scottsdale Auxiliary; 10533 E Lakeview Drive, Scottsdale, AZ 85258
