SCOTTSDALE – Doris Costello died on June 26, 2018, at the age of 92, strong of heart til the end. Doris was born in Genoa, Nebraska, to Roy and Blanche Bruce. She attended business school in Omaha, then worked as a secretary. There she met and married Everett Eyden. They raised three children, moving across the country many times, finally living in Edina, Minn.

After divorcing in 1970, Doris married Harry G. Costello of St. Paul in 1975. They moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where they spent years that Doris thought were some of the happiest of her life. She enjoyed golf, birdwatching and volunteering at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. After Harry died, Doris returned to Minnesota in 2014.

Doris is survived by her children Pamela Eyden (Winona, Minn.), Cynthia Eyden (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Edward Eyden (Phoenix, Arizona) and step-daughter Suzanne Costello (Minneapolis, Minn.); as well as much-loved grandchildren Katherine Roubos (Oakland, Cal.), Julie Eyden (Denver, Colo.), Amy Eyden (Prescott, Arizona), Sophia Costello Pimsler and Gabe Costello Pimsler (both of Minneapolis). She leaves behind her dear sister, Darlene (Darby) Paulsen of Excelsior, Minn., and many loving extended family members.

In spite of her struggle with late-onset dementia, some of Doris’ last words were, “I would have ice cream,” and “I love you.”

A memorial service will be held at St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Minnetonka on July 9 at 10:30. She will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorial gifts in her name should be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
