Wynn consolidat­es buffet offerings, ends breakfast

There’s been an interestin­g shake-up at Wynn Las Vegas, where the excellent breakfast buffet has been discontinu­ed. Also no more are the Champagne brunch and the gourmet dinner.

The offerings have been simplified so there’s now a daily brunch from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for $28.99 weekdays and $36.99 weekends, and dinner for $49.99 weekdays and $52.99 weekends.

Convention center expands: The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has acquired a shopping center, an apartment complex and two adjacent vacant lots near the site of the giant convention-center expansion that’s in progress. The purchase price was $50 million for the 8.3 acres that will be used to shift the footprint of the project west by about 50 feet, freeing up some tight spaces in the design. The shopping center and apartment buildings will be demolished after their tenants are relocated. Work on the convention center, which will extend out to the Strip where the Riviera used to be, is scheduled to be completed in 2020.

Silverton jackpot: An unidentifi­ed player hit for $3.2 million playing a Wheel of Fortune Winning Wedges machine at Silverton. It was the largest jackpot ever at the casino and the second WoF payout of over $1 million this month, after a player hit for $1.1 million at Venetian.

Baz bagging it: Baz — A Musical Tour de Force” is closing at Venetian after a two-year run. The final performanc­e will be July 29. No replacemen­t has been announced.

Question: Where will the fireworks be on the Fourth of July?

Answer: Station Casilaunch nos will again provide the biggest Fourth of July fireworks show, with a nine-minute display that will emanate from Green Valley Ranch (east) and Red Rock Resort (west) as usual, along with a third site at Texas Station and Fiesta Rancho (north).
