field season in the 100 and 200 meters. He ended up with the third-fastest time in the state in the 100 at 10.58 seconds and the second-fastest in the 200 at 21.44.

This summer, at the Rivals 5-Star Challenge in Atlanta, he had the fastest 40-yard time with an electronic 4.56 seconds. That led to an offer from Georgia.

“I have a lot of hype right now, a lot of people talking about me,” Ringo said. “I’m just trying to keep working.” Ringo doesn’t say much on the field. “I let my play on the field talk,” he said. “People like to talk a lot and when they mess up, they’re the first guy to be quiet. I’m just going to show people the hype right now.”

Mohns has had some great football players come through in his six seasons in charge at Saguaro – most notably, wide receiver Christian Kirk and receiver/cornerback Byron Murphy. Kirk is starting his rookie NFL season with the Arizona Cardinals. Murphy is looking to breakout to be among the top corners in college football at Washington after an injury-plagued 2017 season.

Ringo is a first for Mohns.

“I’ve never had a Number 1 at any position in the country,” Mohns said. “Christian was big time. He blew up. Guys (offering scholarships) were a little slow on Christian. They want the 6-4 receiver. He still had 20-something offers by the spring of his junior year.

“Byron had the best ball skills of any player we coaches. I’ve heard coaches at Washington say he has the best ball skills of anyone they ever coached. Byron was 5-11, really quick, savvy.”
