Richard “Dick” Alvah Picard

PHOENIX – Richard “Dick” Alvah Picard, born on April 15, 1932 in Laconia, New Hampshire, passed away at age 86 on June 18, 2018 in Phoenix, Arizona. Dick graduated from Yale University in 1954 and later from Harvard University with an MBA. He was a pioneer and leader in the computer Data Processing industry working at GE, IBM, Smith Barney, American Express, and finally as a Senior Vice President at Valley Nation Bank in Phoenix where among his many accomplishments he was responsible for the first ATMs in Arizona in 1977 - but is most remembered for his annual office Halloween parties. Dick was married to the late Mary Picard for 62 years, residing over the years in Salem MA, Fort Wayne IN, Schenectady NY, San Jose CA, West Windsor NJ, Scottsdale AZ, Pinetop AZ, Gold Canyon AZ, and Peoria AZ. Dick and Mary were inseparable, very social with a huge circle of friends, devout Catholics, and enjoyed raising their family, RV trips across the country, cruises, and especially their cabin in Pinetop. He is survived by his son, Rick Picard (Laura Waller); and daughters, Janine Smith and Sue Picard (Jane Lindaman). He will be honored at a private ceremony in Phoenix on July 19th, and friends and family can pay their respects at a memorial service on Saturday, July 21 at 10:00 at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Community Church, 1915 Penrod Lane, Pinetop, Arizona, 85935 where he will be interred beside his loving wife.
