Patricia Ann Glisan, R.N.

-

PHOENIX – Patricia, a rare Phoenix native, was born on February 6th, 1938 and passed away July 1st, 2018. Patricia graduated from Sunnyslope High School in 1956 and decided to follow in her mothers and grandmother’s footsteps to become a registered nurse. Patricia signed up with Good Samaritan Hospitals 3 year school of nursing, her mother’s alma mater. Patricia graduated 3 years later in 1958 with honors. In October of 1959 Patricia married her longtime friend and sweetheart Roy R. Glisan. After their honeymoon, they returned to Roy’s apartment in Phoenix to wait for their new home to be finished in June 1960. Patricia’s first job after graduation from nursing school was with the Visiting Nurse Service, then a stint as substitute school nurse for Alhambra School District. A Break to raise 3 children came next, Duane Scott of Phoenix, Robert Michael of Glendale and last but by no means least her daughter Kathleen Miller of Phoenix. Patricia’s last job as an R.N. was with Maricopa County Hospital, where she worked with senior patients and was qualified for chemo with cancer patients.

After 32 1/2 years of dedicated service as an R.N., Pat decided to retire and spend more time with her family, to travel and enjoy life. Patricia loved camping, hunting and fishing with her husband and children. Patricia’s decision to retire coincided with her husband’s recent retirement after some 65 years in architectural & civil engineering drafting and design along with his recent retirement from the U.S. Naval Air Reserve of 31 plus years, the last 11 of which were as a Chief Petty Officer. Patricia’s last few years have troubled her with arthritis in her knees, hips and back. Patricia passed on July 1st, 2018 at 8:51 in the morning. She is survived by her husband Roy, both of her sons Duane, Robert and his wife Wilma, Kathleen and her husband Gary Miller and their children Cody, Ryan, Desiree and Patricia’s sister Geraldine Bast.

A memorial service will be held on July 21st, 2018 at noon at Messinger Payson Funeral Home & Mortuary located at 901 S. Westerly RD. in Payson followed by a grave site service at Mountain Meadows Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Arizona Humane Society is suggested as Pat dearly loved her animals.
