PHOENIX – Linda, 93, passed away July 6, 2018. She was born in St. Charles, Missouri on February 24, 1925. Linda married her beloved Walter “Wally” Kipp there on July 27, 1946. A resident of Arizona since 1949, she worked for the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Land Management in records management, specializing in oil and gas leasing and mining claims. Throughout their years in Arizona, Linda and Wally enjoyed the state’s many lakes and parks, towing their boat on the weekends, usually joined by friends with whom they shared their love of fishing and camping, and enjoyment of the great outdoors. Always known for their kind hospitality, they opened their home to visiting family and friends, and to their families as well. Upon retirement, they traveled on cruises and tours to Europe, Canada, and the Panama Canal, and took regular trips to San Diego with friends. Linda was a charter member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, where she was involved in many aspects of congregational life: Church Council, Shepherd’s Foundation, wedding coordinator, archivist, member of Hope Circle and Women of the ELCA. A good and faithful servant of the Lord, Linda had a deep and abiding faith which she shared with those around her. She is survived by several nieces and nephews in the Ostmann and Kipp families; her goddaughter Deborah Ash; her cherished cat Noodles; and many, many dear friends who called and visited her regularly as her health declined and she became homebound. Linda is preceded in death by her husband Wally; parents John and Antoinette Ostmann; brothers Clarence, Harry, and Raymond Ostmann; and sisters Charlotte Ostmann and Leona Ahlemeyer. The family is grateful for the loving care and support provided to her by the staffs of Beatitudes Campus, Safely Somewhere, Chateaux Arcadia, and Hospice of the Valley. Services will be held Friday, July 27, 2018 at 10:30am in the chapel at Shepherd of the Valley, 1500 W. Maryland, Phoenix 85015. Interment will be at 2:00pm at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek, Phoenix 85024.
