Short cast

Tonto National Forest officials report Roosevelt Lake launch ramps at Grapevine and Schoolhous­e are too shallow to use due to a dropping lake level. Options include Roosevelt Marina, Windy Hill and Cholla ramps.

Central waters

The Arizona Game and Fish Department reports the following waters were stocked early this week: Oak Creek, East Verde River, Woods Canyon, Willow Springs, Bear Canyon lakes, Tonto, Christophe­r, Haigler, Canyon, Show Low, Silver creeks and the west fork of the Little Colorado River. Roosevelt

A pair of anglers reported catching 30 bass and many of them were on double hookups. One angler said he caught five fish on five straight casts. He added he lost a 4-pounder. Richard LaPorte at Liar’s Korner tackle shop in Mesa reports an angler winning a tournament with a five-fish bag that weighed 24 pounds. Informatio­n: (480) 986-2515.

Pleasant

Some anglers experience­d a good striper bite at the mouth of the river. The successful anglers used flutter spoons. Stripers continue to surface in the mornings. A women angler reportedly caught a 27.46-pound catfish during a bass tournament. Informatio­n: (623) 412-3474.
