4 new apartment options in Valley
Over 10,000 new units on track to be built this year
New apartment complexes are opening or have opened recently in the southwest Valley from luxury condominiums in Chandler to urban living in Tempe.
Developers in metropolitan Phoenix are planning to build more than 10,300 new apartments this year, a study by RentCafe, a nationwide apartment search website, shows.
That’s 55 percent more apartments than last year.
On Phoenix’s east side, Tempe will see the most new inventory with 1,915 apartment units planned, according to the study. Chandler is expected to add 1,075 and Scottsdale is third with 1,030 apartment units planned, the study reports. Gilbert and Mesa are expected to add around 400 to 500 apartments each. The new options offer more than choices for renters.
The Arizona Republic reported in June that many new rental complexes are offering renters deals to help fill vacancies before other new apartments open and lure them away.
Here’s a look at four of the newest options in the Southeast Valley.
Union Tempe
Union Tempe, at 703 Forest Ave., is set to open Aug. 1.
The 407-unit, two-story complex is in downtown Tempe near Arizona State University.
The two towers hold apartment units in a variety of sizes from unfurnished studio apartments to four-bedroom, three bathroom city homes.
Rent ranges from $800 to as much as $4,500 for the larger units.
Although most of the units are unfurnished, they offer furnished apartments.
Amenities include a dog park, dog wash, yoga studio, pool, a community lounge and a fitness center.

Noria Chandler
Noria is a device for raising water from a stream, but in Chandler it’s a new apartment complex with 236 units at 2177 McQueen Road.
Noria’s first phase opened in April; two more phases are planned.
The second phase will add 246 more units in an adjacent lot.
The specifics of the third phase depends on the market, Leasing Manager Colby Weadock said.
Amenities include a pool, 24-hour yoga studio, dog park and wash, community area with pool table, a fitness center and free Starbucks coffee.
Monthly rent ranges from $1,349 to $2,200 for one, two or three-bedroom options.

Aviva Mesa
Aviva, a 325-unit apartment complex, is the first Arizona project for Florida-based Housing Trust Group.
The complex at 8340 Baseline Road is the first community in the area to be built to National Green Building Standards.
The $63 million complex offers one, two and three-bedroom units starting at $1,150 per month.
The apartments feature open floor plans with 9-foot ceilings and are equipped with high-speed internet and cable television.
Amenities include a pool, a health and wellness center, game room, outdoor fire pits, electric-car charging stations, basketball court and a dog park.

District Lofts Gilbert
District Lofts, at 170 Cullumber Ave. in Gilbert’s Heritage District, is a contemporary luxury apartment complex.
Each apartment features 9-foot ceilings, stainless appliances, and fullsize washers and dryers.
The complex offers one, two and three-bedroom floor plans ranging from $1,075 to $1,799 a month.
The complex is within walking distance of popular downtown Gilbert restaurants, including Postino and LoLo’s Chicken and Waffles.
Amenities include a rooftop lounge with an outdoor kitchen and views of the San Tan Mountains, a community garden, dog park, children’s play zone and a 24-hour fitness center.
