Lynn Marie Anderson

PHOENIX – Lynn Marie Anderson died peacefully on July 29, 2018 following a short illness with cancer. She was born on March 28, 1959 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Theodore Thomas Thompson and Kathryn Lucille Thompson - the first of three ‘Thompson Girls’. Her family moved from Freeman, South Dakota when she was six. Her father, a Lutheran pastor, died when she was nine. Her small family journeyed to Minnesota every summer to spend idyllic time with extended family.

Lynn cherished her beloved husband, Thor, and her radiant daughters, Nicole and Heather, who were her greatest pride. She basked in their love. Lynn was also a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, niece, and cousin.

Lynn obtained social work and law degrees from Arizona State University and was the top student of Maryvale High School’s Class of ’77. Her grace, wisdom, and intellect helped thousands of families throughout her 33-year career practicing law at Hadley, Poach, & Anderson Law Office.

Faith was deeply important to Lynn. She soaked in life. Her passions included traveling, cooking, gardening, photography, and relaxing at her mother’s cabin in Prescott . She generously volunteered through Duet and her church. Her thoughtful planning made every occasion more special. She was a deeply loyal friend.

Lynn is survived by her husband Thor; daughters Nicole and Heather (Andrew); mother Kathryn; sisters Lisa (Joe) and Elizabeth (Paul); nieces and nephews Aaron (Christina), JoAnne (Paul), Ted, Paul, Luke, and Katie; great-nieces and great-nephews Patrick, Ashley, Kiley, Mason, and Malayna; in-laws Thor Sr., Jennifer, Dorothy, and Christian; and her dear Minnesota family.

A memorial service will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1500 W. Maryland Ave., Phoenix 85015 on Sunday, August 12th at 1:30 p.m. Contributions in Lynn’s memory may be made to Duet, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, or Desert Botanical Garden.
