MESA – Mary Elizabeth Morris, 94, was born on New Year’s Eve, 1923, in Brockton, MA. On July 31, she went to be with her husband, Conrad “Connie” Morris, who passed away in 1993, her son, Gary Alan Morris, who left this earth in 2010, and her daughter, Patricia Ann Morris, who went to be with the angels in 2017. Mary is survived by her two oldest sons, Jeff Morris, of Brentwood, CA, and Robert Steven Morris, of Mesa, AZ, her grandson, Scott Morris, and her grandchild­ren Amelia and Henry Morris of Phoenix, her brother, Lawrence Alan Whalen of Marshfield, MA, and her sister, Maureen Palmer of Hanson, MA. She married Connie Morris in 1945 and devoted the next 73 years of her life to loving, raising, and caring for her family. In August 1961, during the heat of the summer, the six-member Morris family piled into their 1958 Chevrolet station wagon and moved from Rockland, MA, to Arizona for health reasons. They settled in northwest Phoenix and in 1972 moved to Tempe. After Connie’s passing in 1993, Mary volunteere­d at Desert Samaritan Hospital (now Banner Desert Medical Center) and was active for a short time in Ladies’ Sodality at Resurrecti­on Catholic Church in Tempe. In December 2002, Mary moved to Leisure World in Mesa, where she lived for 15 years. A celebratio­n of her life will be scheduled at Leisure World. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Gilbert.
