Concern grows for teen missing from Phoenix

- Nathan J. Fish

Concern has been growing among family and friends for a missing Phoenix teen who was last seen Aug. 4.

Kiera Lanae Bergman, 19, was last seen at her residence in the area of 51st Avenue and Thunderbird Road, Phoenix police said.

“She has not returned home and has not been seen or heard from since. Her family is very concerned for her welfare,” Phoenix police said on a missingperson poster.

Police released photos of the woman and asked for any information from the public.

Social-media posts were urging friends to attend a vigil for the woman on Saturday night.

One vigil was held on Friday in El Cajon to “gather to support, pray and send good vibes,” and another was planned for Saturday in Glendale.

Social-media posts from friends and media indicated the woman had recently relocated to Phoenix from El Cajon, which is outside San Diego.

The Glendale vigil was set for the Indigo Creek Apartments at 14221 N. 51st Ave., near Thunderbird Road and 51st Avenue.

The hashtag #bringkierahom was used by those concerned on social media and a GoFundMe was set up by Bergman’s cousin to help her family “afford the cost of the hotels, taking time off work, gas, you name it” as they searched.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Phoenix Police Department Missing Persons Unit at 602-534-2121 or caleb.mor ris@phoenix.gov.
