Lloyd Watson Marks
CHANDLER – Lloyd Watson Marks, 89, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2018, in Chandler, Arizona. He was born on August 31, 1928 in Ione, Arkansas, the fourth of six boys. He spent his childhood in small farming communities with his family in Scott and Logan counties in Arkansas.
Lloyd was a graduate of Booneville High School in Booneville, Arkansas. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, mostly in the Army Occupation in Tokyo, Japan, he continued his education at the University of Arkansas and Michigan State University. During that time, Lloyd met the love of his life, Betty Fay Bowman, whom he married on April 3, 1953, in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Lloyd and Betty moved to Davison, Michigan, where he began a 35-year career in the field of education, primarily at Davison High School as a math teacher and later as the Assistant Principal. Upon retirement in 1988, they moved to Arizona. He served as a volunteer educator for the ESSCOA organization in Phoenix.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Betty; their children: Jory, Russell (Shawn), and Randall (Suzanne); four granddaughters: Cara, Emily (Steven), Linnea, and Olivia; one brother, Robert Lowell Marks; sisterin-law, Virginia Marks; and two great grandsons, Andrew and Nathaniel Sandoval.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur L. and Audrey Marks; brothers, Cloyce, Leonard, Leslie and Lee Marks; grandson, Nathaniel Jacob Marks.
According to his wishes, Lloyd’s remains have been cremated and his life celebrated at a private family memorial service in Mesa, Arizona.
