SCOTTSDALE – Long time Scottsdale resident Robert L. Hesse passed away at Eckstein Hospice Center on July 28, 2018 at age 81. Bob, as he was known, was born and raised in Madison, WI. His parents were Robert and Olga Hesse, also longtime residents of Phoenix. Bob graduated from George Washington High School in San Francisco and was a proud graduate of University of California, Berkeley in 1959 and MBA in 1963. Bob served as an officer in the US Army in 1959-1960. He enjoyed the summer camps at Fort Irwin for several years. Bob retired from Arizona State Land Department in 2002. He had previously worked for the Department of Revenue and Arizona Resources Informatio­n System. Earlier he had worked for Dickson Elections in Scottsdale. Bob is survived by his wife Jean, son Kurt and his wife Tawnya, grandsons Aiden and Ian. Also surviving Bob are many nieces and nephews and their offspring who shared their lives with him. You know who you are. It was complicati­ons from Progressiv­e Supranucle­ar Palsy, PSP, which caused his demise. A lifelong golfer, Bob played both the New and Old Courses at St. Andrews, Scotland, also Carnoustie. In England, he played Royal St. George golf course. One of his favorite activities was coaching Little League baseball in the Pima-Navajo neighborho­od. He did this for several years and always enjoyed it. He also coached basketball at the Boys Club when it was on Osborn Road. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting a local Little League or Pony League Youth Sports Team.
