NATIVE SON – Stephen Lucas Woodward, 65, a Native Son of Arizona passed away on August 7’ 2018 at his home in Tempe Arizona.

Steve was born in Phoenix on May 15 1953 to Don Woodward and Virginia Woodward. He graduated from North Phoenix High School in 1971 and went on to earn his degree in teaching from Arizona State University. In 1977 he married Kathy Jones, enjoying 41 years as he said “a lucky man”. A career Educator, Steve taught Science and Physics at Corona Del Sol High School in Tempe Arizona. “Mr. Woodward’s” daily bicycle ride to Corona was a familiar site in the neighborho­od and on campus. In 2005, after almost 30 adventure filled years in the classroom, Steve retired to spend more time with family and friends, pursuing his other interests, which included fishing, building projects and a life long pursuit of learning.

Steve will be missed by his wife Kathy, daughter Koryn Woodward Wasson (Roy), Ian Woodward (Amy), brother Roger Gaillard (Heidi), sister Kate Penland (Reid), two beloved grandchild­ren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held for Steve at Arizona Community Church (9325 S. Rural Rd, Tempe, AZ 85284) Saturday, August 18, 2018, 1:30 P.M.
